Quim Marquès
Quim Marqués is a renowned Catalan chef and a leading figure in Barcelona-style cuisine. He is celebrated for championing the traditional seafood cooking of the Barceloneta district and for his skill in modernising classic Catalan recipes.
Born into a family with a deep culinary heritage, he learned the foundations of traditional cooking from his mother and grandmother. He was part of the first intake at the prestigious Barcelona School of Hospitality and honed his technique at elite institutions, including elBulli, El Racó d'En Freixa, Casa Fermín, and La Cuisine des Anges. He also advised chef José Andrés on the opening of Mercado Little Spain in New York.
Quim Marqués is best known for El Suquet de l'Almirall, his iconic restaurant next to Barceloneta beach, which was later succeeded by Santa Magdalena and Piropo in the Gràcia neighbourhood. His career is a testament to his dedication to elevating the rich culinary traditions of his homeland.
