Bar Quimet & Quimet

Quimet & Quimet is a legendary, century-old tapas bar in Barcelona's Poble-sec neighbourhood. Founded in 1914, it has been run by five generations of the same family and remains a pilgrimage site for lovers of quality preserves, conservas, and creative montaditos.

The space is famously tiny — standing room only, with no reservations accepted . Walls are stacked floor-to-ceiling with hundreds of bottles of wine, sherry, and vermouth, creating an unforgettable, old-world atmosphere. The food is prepared on the spot at the bar counter, featuring bold combinations of high-quality tinned seafood, cheeses, and cured meats.

Don't miss the montaditos (small open-faced sandwiches) — especially the smoked salmon with yogurt and caviar, the artichoke with cheese and caviar, and the foie gras with volcanic salt. Pair them with their house vermouth negre or a glass of wine from their mind-boggling selection.
