Pastisseria Escribà
Escribà is a legendary name in Barcelona's pastry scene, a historic institution with roots stretching back to 1820 and a family legacy that began in 1906. Led by the fourth-generation pastry chef Christian Escribà, the shop is a playground of creativity that masterfully blends tradition with a rebellious, innovative spirit.
The flagship shop on Gran Vía and the modernist gem on La Rambla, known as Antiga Casa Figueras, are destinations in themselves. The Rambla location, adorned with stunning Modernist mosaics and ironwork, offers a peaceful oasis amidst the city's bustle. Here, you can enjoy a selection of pastries that are as beautiful as they are delicious, including their acclaimed puff pastry croissant, cream-filled pastries, and the famous quemado.
Christian Escribà is renowned for pushing the boundaries of pastry. His creations are theatrical and surprising—from "Moving Pastries" and "Exploding Cakes" to his "Candy Glam" collection of edible jewellery, which has been sold at Harrods and Galeries Lafayette. More recently, he created a chocolate ham presented like the real thing, complete with toast, olive oil, and a grater for making chocolate shavings. Named Best Pastry Chef in Spain by the Spanish Academy of Gastronomy, he is a true alchemist of sweets, dedicated to creating happiness through dessert
